![]() A warning for the light sleepers/noise sensitives though: right across the street is the firehouse and the Stellar Jay birds have a loud squawk too. The lodge is also not very far from The Village-the main shopping area, and a short drive from the lake's marina. I reckon she's of some Slavic descent but I felt it rude to ask. The manager was a sweet lady too, very friendly and eccentric. Since we faced the street we had a nice view of the lake and mountain. Another benefit though was the balcony (or patio if you're downstairs) with a table and seating for 2. They might take to doing a once over if expecting someone to take the room. ![]() The biggest mess being the hot tub-hard water stains from the jets and some dead or alive spiders. There were some unclean spots I noticed-small but not comforting to say the lease. It was either busted or just smarter than myself and partner-so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and just say it will probably take an engineer to get it to work. There's a little gas fireplace, purely ambient-no heat. Cozy place with some home-y furnishings, like visiting your aunts for the weekend but with a hot tub in room. All rooms have kitchens and flat-screen TVs. WiFi and parking are free, and this apartment also features an indoor pool. Southern Black Forest Nature Park is minutes away. The street noise was apparent but can be ignored though, probably not for the light sleeper/noise sensitive. Stayed in a studio, queen room at Black Forest Lodge for 1 night. In addition, with the attitude we saw from this property, it s a no-brainer to never stay here again. A trip to Big Bear should be a relaxing getaway where you can sleep in peace and quiet. I would recommend you to stay away from this hotel. Eventually, after checking with someone, she did give us one small towel to use. We told her about the road noise and that we did not sleep well, but she did not apologize or show any sympathy. The lady at the front desk then told us she should not give us a towel because it was already noon. It turns out the hotel only gave us one bath towel (no face or hand towels) for our room. We then had to ask for a bath towel from the front desk. We ended up sleeping through our alarm as we did not get a good night's sleep. The walls of our room were also so thin you could hear guests in the other room. We closed all the windows/curtains but the windows were so thin that you could still hear everything. To make it worse, there were metal plates on the road that made it even louder. Despite the fact that we were not facing the road, the road noise was very loud. We stayed in a room in the front building, away from the road.
